There is a lot to consider here. If the battery is completely drained then it would take hours and hours of running the alternator to bring the battery back to life. If the battery is discharged past 20% then your alternator will have a tough time bringing it back up to fully charged with normal daily driving use. Alternators are not designed to be designated battery charger, their primary function is to power the systems in the vehicle and give a surface charge to the battery system.
