how do i best charge a dead battery?

It depends on how dead the battery is, if its above 4 volts then simply hooking up the CTEK US 7002 charger up to it in the normal mode (or AGM if you need it) will start the recovery process. If your battery is below 4 volts then you will need to run it in parallel with another battery to artificially raise the voltage and the hook up the 7002 unit to it.
