How long should these batteries last before needing to be replaced. How do you recommend testing them?
Deka Unigy 12AVR100ET Battery
We've taken over a system that has about 12 of these batteries in use. They are are all about 5 years old or more. How many years before you recommend replacing them? Also, is there a recommended way to test them? Lastly, should these be reconditioned occasionally? Please let me know.

The 12AVR100ET is a 10-year battery design life. In the proper environment and care, this battery string could easily perform for 10 years. The first thing to look at is the average temperature of the battery room - the magic temperature is 77 degrees. You also want to review the application, is this for a telecom system or UPS? UPS systems run a higher cycle duration. The last bit of advice we can give is if you want to check the vitals on the battery system then take individual cell readings of the batteries and make sure that they are within spec and monitor the charging current to make sure it's not over or undercharging.
