It depends on the type of charger, if the charger is an automatic shutoff (smart charger) then it's okay to leave the charger on the battery at all times because the unit has built-in overcharge protection. If it's a straight charger with a constant output then it's not recommended to leave it on the charger as it's guaranteed to overcharge the battery and ultimately shorten its lifespan.
