Yes, this supercap can be safely installed and operated inside the cab of the truck without any issues or safety concerns! In regards to charging the unit, the battery needs to be run in parallel with another 12V battery - in most cases the primary starting battery. The supercap will re-charge itself from the battery its connected to extremely quick. You are not able to connect this battery directly to the alternator.
