When charging the battery it gets hot and has an odor. Does that mean we need a mew one?

When you are charging the batteries its normal for them to feel warm to the touch however they should not get hot to the touch and should not emit an odor. If you can smell something coming from the battery then that means its gassing and either being over charged or needs to be replaced due to a defect or old age.
