The XS Power D4900 series battery will be to large for the battery compartment in your 1987 Chevy Caprice. I recommend taking a look at the XS Power D3400 battery with the 551 I-Bar. The D3400 is still a bit larger that your original battery, but has the best chance of fitting within your existing battery tray. Head over to the product page for the D3400 and double check the measurements of the battery for conformation. You will need the 551 I-Bar in order to make the battery a side post style - the same as your original.
