Are these batteries charged daily by the solar cell or do I have to take them out of the solar light to charge them

I purchased batteries to replace those that came with my solar lights, but when I install them the lights come on immediately and stay on continuously. I don't want that. I tried the batteries on other lights in the set and the results are the same.

The batteries for the solar lights are typically charged during sunlight hours. Usually, the solar lights detect sunlight and don't engage the light bulb while the sun is out, and then, as light starts to fade, the light sensor will tell the solar light to turn on.
